with honors from Grant MacEwan College in
the Professional Golf Management Program.
Travis has also been employed in the golf
industry for 5 years as an apprentice professional
and for several years as a golf retail associate.
Travis believes that golf should be a fun,
relaxing and rewarding game so that all players
may enjoy it. He tries to employ a philosophy
of fun along with one of practice because
the key to a good golf swing is good fundamentals.

Greg McGarry (Canadian PGA Head Professional)
This marks GregÕs third year as Head Professional
at the Glendale . A Class ÔAÕ member of the
Canadian PGA, Greg has been a CPGA Golf Professional
for 12 years. Throughout his career he has
spent time taking lessons and learning the
teaching methods from PGA Teaching Professionals
such as David Leadbetter, Butch Harmon, Hank
Haney, and Dave Pelz. Greg has attained his
fitting certification for Ping, Titleist,
and Callaway golf equipment. A very strong
player, Greg won the Alberta PGA Club Professional
Championship in 2005 and 2006, the Alberta
PGA Assistants Championship in 2001, and has
competed on both the Nationwide Tour and Canadian
Tour. A graduate of St. MaryÕs University
in Halifax, Greg holds a Bachelor of Commerce
Degree in Marketing.

Blair Buttar (Canadian PGA Assistant Professional)
This is BlairÕs third year at the Glendale
after spending two years at the Silver Springs
Golf & CC in Calgary . Prior to becoming a
club professional, Blair was a touring professional
on the Canadian Tour. A dominant player and
very active teacher, Blair is a true student
of the game. In 2006 Blair won the Edmonton
Open. 2005 Blair was selected as the Alberta
PGA ÒPlayer of the YearÓ after an awesome
summer of tournament golf. He preceded this
by winning the 2003 Alberta PGA Assistants
Championship, 2001 Alberta Amateur Championship,
2000 & 1997 Edmonton Amateur Championship,
and 1992 Alberta Junior Championship. His
runner-up finish at the 2000 Canadian Amateur
gave Blair an exemption into the Bell Canadian
Open on the PGA Tour where he teed it up alongside
the worldÕs best. Growing up in Leduc, Blair
left Alberta to compete and coach at Texas
A&M University (Commerce), where he graduated
with a Bachelor of Business Administration
Degree.

Andre Di Bartolo (Canadian PGA Assistant
Professional) This season will be AndreÕs
second year working at the Glendale . Prior
to working at the Glendale , he spent 23 years
in the Canadian Armed Forces where he competed
in many Regional and National golf competitions.
During his time with the CF, Andre gained
valuable experience in instructing and teaching.
He has completed Level 4 of the Canadian PGA
Teaching and Coaching Certification Program
and hopes to become more involved within the
Glendale teaching program. Andre just completed
his second year at Grant MacEwan, where he
is taking the Professional Golf Management
Program. Andre is enthusiastic about returning
to the Glendale team and looks forward to
helping the members and their guests improve
their game.

Blair Oko Canadian PGA Class A Head Professional
(TCCP Certified) Blair Oko, a native Edmontonian,
learned the game of golf while playing as
a Junior at the Windermere and Derrick Golf
Clubs. After a successful Junior career, he
turned professional and has been a member
of the Canadian Professional Golf Association
for the past 16 years. During that time he
spent several years as a touring professional
in Canada and the United States, and has won12
professional tournaments before returning
to Edmonton to work in the pro shop at the
Glendale Golf and Country Club. After becoming
a Class A Head Professional with the Canadian
Professional Golf Association (CPGA), Blair
established a year-round Golf Academy that
has very recently relocated to new facilities
in the South Edmonton Kinsman Arenas at 19th
Ave., and 111 St. For the past 10 years, the
Academy has offered more than 2000 private,
semi-private and group lessons each year to
golfers of all ages and at all skill levels.
The Academy uses state-of-the-art digital
video equipment to record and analyze studentsÕ
golf swings, and more quickly and accurately
identify necessary swing adjustments. One
of BlairÕs particular interests is in helping
youngsters from age 5 and up to learn to play
and enjoy this great game. He has also had
considerable success with skilled, well motivated
teen-age golfers who want to play competitive
golf as amateurs or as professionals. He has
helped a number of those young golfers improve
to the point where they have won golf scholarships
at a number of American colleges and universities.

Nick Kruse, have also enjoyed success as playing

Matt Leslie Matt is 24 years old and has
been born and raised in Edmonton. He played
his earlier junior golf days at Pioneer Meadows
before he began to work in the golf industry.
His first job at the age of 15 was at the
Windermere Golf Club. After that he moved
to the Derrick Golf and Winter Club for 2
years before spending the next 4 summers at
the Highlands Golf Club and the Blair Oko
Golf Academy during the winters. He has been
in charge of the junior program at the academy
for about 3 years now and enjoys promoting
the game and watching it grow as more and
more juniors are getting into the great game
of golf. The Blair Oko Golf Academy has junior
group lessons running monthly, every Saturday
from Noon to 1pm as well as extremely popular
week long spring break junior camps and summer
camps that run Monday to Friday from 9am to
Noon in July and August. Matt is currently
enrolled in his last of three years in the
Professional Golf Management Program at Grant
MacEwan College. After graduating he looks
forward to gaining even more knowledge and
experience in the instruction side of the
game and getting to work with and improve
the more skilled golfer.

Meet Our Teaching CPGA Professional Staff
Blake Clayton, CPGA, TCCP Certified Blake
was born and raised in Ontario where he spent
his winters playing competitive hockey and
his summers playing tournament golf. From
a young age Blake excelled at sports but golf
was never in the forefront. As he achieved
more success in tournaments as a junior golf
started to become a larger part of his life
and a possible career. Blake has competed
as a junior on the Provincial and National
levels respectively. Blake is a graduate of
the Professional Golf Management Program in
Ontario. After college Blake turned Professional
and became a member of The Alberta PGA. Blake
is a student of the game and has completed
all 4 teaching levels required by the APGA.
Blake has spent the past 2 years working as
a professional at The Earl Grey Golf Club
where he gained experience teaching all skill
levels. Blake is looking forward to meeting
all the new and familiar faces around The
Links of GlenEagles.

Brianna Souter, CPGA, TCCP Certified Brianna
Souter is a fourth year CPGA Assistant Professional.
She has been employed in the golf industry
for over ten years and has completed the Professional
Golf Management Program at Lethbridge Community
College. Brianna has a very impressive resume
with regards to her playing background. She
played her junior golf in Manitoba where she
represented the Provincial team four years
running and competed in the Canadian Junior
Ladies Championship, as well as playing on
the College golf team for the three years
she attended. She brings her playing experience
to the lesson tee to assist her students.
Brianna has a great understanding for the
fundamentals of the golf swing, and enjoys
teaching all ages and skill levels, in a relaxed
and enjoyable atmosphere.
Tommy Townsend, CPGA Tommy Townsend has a
passion for sports that began at a young age
when he excelled in both baseball and hockey.
He started playing and working in the golf
industry at the age of 14 and since then has
won three junior tournaments and placed in
the top ten in various Alberta PGA events.
Tommy is also a graduate of the Professional
Golfer's Career College in Temecula, California,
one of the premier golf management schools
in the USA. After college, Tommy returned
home and achieved his professional status
by attending and winning the player's ability
test by 15 strokes and shooting -4. Tommy
is a skilled player who loves to interact
with others and help to improve their game.

Rick Gross Named New Head Professional
On January 29th, the Lethbridge Country Club's
new CPGA Head Professional was announced.
Rick Gross of Magrath Golf Club accepted the
new position and will be starting his duties
February 9th. Rick brings with him a familiarity
of the Lethbridge Country Club and many of
its members and a sound understanding of the
Lethbridge golf community in general. His
career in golf started at the Lethbridge CC
back in 1986 as he scrubbed golf clubs in
the backshop along with the likes of World
Long Drive Champion Jason Zuback. Rick spent
from 1990-1996 as a young CPGA apprentice
at the Lethbridge Country Club under the direction
of then Head Professional Brian Huculak. Once
done his apprenticeship, Rick landed his first
head pro position at Magrath Golf Club where
he has been learning the tricks of the trade
since. The Club is excited to have Rick back
and he looks forward to reacquainting himself
with long time members and meeting all newer
members.

Brian Miller
Brian turned professional in 1987 following
a successful amateur career which included
two US Amateurs and two Canadian Amateurs.
He worked for seven years at the Glencoe Golf
& C.C., then for thirteen at Country Hills
Golf Club. Brian is eager to begin his second
year as Head Professional and General Manager
of the Brooks Golf Club
Daryl Patrick
Daryl turned professional in 1994 after
graduating from the University of Calgary.
He worked six years at Country Hills Golf
Club before playing tournament golf in Asia.
In 2001-2002, Daryl competed on the Singha
Tour in Thailand, the Malaysian PGA Tour,
and the 2002 Asian Qualifying School. Daryl
returned to Canada to coach the University
of Calgary Men's and Women's Golf Teams for
two seasons. He then honed his teaching skills
at the 5-Star resort Balmer See Golf Club
in Usedom, Germany. Daryl is exited to begin
his second season helping all golfers at the
Brooks Golf Club.
Craig Gibson
Craig Gibson has an accomplished amateur
career with several Brooks Junior Open wins,
a Brooks Men's Open and Closed win, and several
MJT Tour wins. Craig is happy to begin this
season as the Proshop Manager.
