What's One Putt a Day Worth on Tour?
At Least $14,400 a Day!
From 125th to 1st on the Money List, the Scoring Average ranges from
71.39 to Tiger's 68.56 (2.84 strokes). Forget Tiger - he's way gone! From
125th to 2nd, the range is 71.39 to Vijay Singh's 69.47 (1.92 strokes).
Shaving one full putt off the average moves a 125th Player from $515,000
in official earnings all the way to 25th in money at $1.96M -- for $1.44M
more, almost quadrupling the event earnings! During 25 events
and 100 rounds, that's a cool $14,400 a day for one putt! The sledding
gets VERY tough after that in the top 25. A Player would have to shave
ANOTHER full putt out of his average to move from 25th to 2nd. Players
in this Top-25 Echelon are definitely in a separate category altogether.
During a season of 25 events and 100 rounds, saving one extra putt per
round is worth at least $14,400 a day. For a Player at 60th, saving a
putt a day is worth about $17,400 a day. For a Player at 25th, the saving
is worth about $23,500 a day. Whose improving? Whose falling back? We'll
check and see. Here are the Stats
for Improvement, in progress.
